Kicking Cancer’s Butt: Ashley Roberts teams up with 888 Ladies
While we appear to be heading closer towards curing cancer, this devastating disease continues to rip the hearts out of families on a regular basis. Despite this, those who deal with the disease always seem to do so with such grace and strength, and this is something the 888 Ladies bingo site have recently looked to celebrate. By teaming up with former Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts, the brand has reached out to a huge audience in a bid to raise both funds and awareness for the cause.
Fighting Cancer with the help of Players and Celebrities
Former pop-start Roberts, who is one of a host of celebrity bingo players, was last seen on the popular evening show Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway and has a personal association with the disease due to events in her family. Talking to 888 Ladies, she said, “My mum has had two friends within the last year who have unfortunately lost their fight against cancer, so it’s just something that I feel so grateful to bring my voice to and hopefully help raise some awareness.” She is subsequently adding her seminal voice to the thousands already participating, and hoping to raise huge funds to help fight the disease.
It has been a staggering 20 years since the first Race for Life event in the UK, and during this time an estimated seven million women have raised £513 million. Roberts’ public involvement with the popular 888 Ladies brand will also raise awareness further, and hopefully encourage more women to participate in the 2015 calendar of races.
“Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life has long inspired me and it’s such an honour to be able to play my part,” continued Roberts. “The whole concept is so impactful; whether it is in celebrating those surviving cancer, remembering loved ones or simply for us women to join together and kick cancer’s butt.
An Inspiring Story for the Nation
As a proud and prominent partner of the Race for Life, 888 Ladies, Roberts has found the ideal outlet for her obvious passion. To celebrate this, she is set to use her unheralded acting talents to star in a video to promote the alliance, during which she will assume the role of a drill sergeant addressing a crowd of runners. Incorporated a number of bingo calls and references, the promotional advert strikes the right balance between fun and information is a bid to take on cancer with an even bigger army of support!
